In February my challenge was to do start every day doing an Hour of Power, or at least Thirty Minutes to Thrive.

In January I challenged myself to write 1,000 words every day. How did I do? Did I make it to 30,000 words?
In a word, no.
Two of my favorite blogs out there are Leo Babauta’s ZenHabits.net and Scott Dinsmore’s LiveYourLegend.net. Both are an incredible source of inspiration for me. And in the last weeks of the year, they especially inspire me to take the time to plan and set goals for the next year.
Inspired by them, I decided to challenge myself in 2015. Really, really challenge myself.
In my post on How To Keep Your Drive While Working a Job That Drains You I described how I started my day doing something that was important to me. The result was, in summary, a much better day overall.
This is what inspired my challenge for this month. If you search the internet for habits of successful people, you will notice that on every list the habit of a morning routine comes up.
My first challenge of the year was the easiest to come up with and could be the hardest to complete (but let’s not get ahead of ourselves): writing 30,000 words or 1,000 words a day!
The challenge is inspired by the National Novel Writing Month or NaNoWriMo event. NaNoWriMo is a global event that takes place every November. On November 1, participants begin working towards the goal of writing a 50,000-word novel by 11:59 PM on November 30. It’s really quite awe-inspiring.
I took part in NaNoWriMo once. Didn’t make it past 5,000 words.
